Aravani
A new solo work-in-progress presented at the final year of Barkha’s choreographic fellowship with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
Aravani about a woman rejoicing the outlawing of section 377 of the Indian Constitution. As she sings a prayer to Bahuchara, goddess central to the hijrah community, this Aravani recalls her journey of being ostracized by her family, searching for a sense of belonging and reigniting a flame within to be her unabashed self.
